Women's Basketball Stymied by First-Place Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. — The Pratt Institute women's basketball team fell on the road to to first-place Immaculata University, 74-32, in an Atlantic East Conference game at Alumnae Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Pratt (1-13, 0-6 Atlantic East) was led by a team-high 14 points from Kylie Grant (Dallas, Texas), but could not overcome the depth of Immaculata (14-3, 6-0 Atlantic East), who remained undefeated in league play.

The host Mighty Macs used a strong defensive effort to build a 25-10 lead after the first quarter. The Cannoneers continued to battle, with Grant and Anabela Jakelic (Zagreb, Croatia) combining for 10 of the team's 19 first-half points, but Immaculata carried a 40-19 advantage into the break.

Grant finished her afternoon with 14 points and nine rebounds while playing all 40 minutes for the gold-and-black. Jakelic also flirted with a double-double, finishing with nine points, a team-high 10 rebounds, and two blocks before fouling out. Emily Carlson (Utica, N.Y.) had a solid defensive game, contributing six points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

Immaculata featured a balanced attack with 13 different players scoring. Carly Coleman filled the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Abby Grillo and Olivia Ettorre each chipped in with nine points for the Mighty Macs.

The Cannoneers return home to the ARC to host Neumann University on Wednesday, January 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
