NEW YORK — Senior Pallavi Verghese (Fayetteville, Ark.) of the Pratt Institute women's tennis team has been selected as the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 19–25, the league office announced today.
Verghese led Pratt (8-0, 6-0 CUNYAC) to a 7-0 conference road sweep of Lehman College on Monday, Oct. 19, surrendering just two games across a pair of victories at the top flights.
In doubles action, Verghese teamed with senior Beatrice Crespo (Kearny, N.J.) at the No. 1 position to earn a 6-0 shutout. Verghese carried that momentum into singles play at the No. 1 flight, turning in a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set victory.
The weekly accolade is the second of the season for Verghese having been named Atlantic East Player of the Week on Sept. 22 and her first honor from the CUNYAC.
Pratt enters the 2026 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Championship as the regular season champion and No. 1 seed and faces No. 4-seeded Lehman College in the semifinals today, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
