NEW YORK — The Pratt Institute women's track and field team recorded several personal and season-best marks at the NYU DIII Invitational on Friday evening at The Armory highlighted by first-year Melis Kavlicoglu (Reno, Nev.) in the 400-meter dash.
Kavlicoglu delivered the day's top result, breaking the one-minute barrier in the 400 meters for the first time. She clocked a personal-best time of 59.57 seconds to secure a sixth-place finish in a field of more than 30 runners.
In the sprints, sophomore Brooke Schreffler (Harrisburg, Pa.) continued her strong season by setting another personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.89 seconds. Junior Kemi Ayeni (Stockbridge, Ga.) posted a season-best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 29.58. Both also competed in the 60 and 200-meter events for the Cannoneers.
Senior Giovanna Lisa (Reading, Pa.) made her season debut in the mile, crossing the line in 6:11.22. First-year Milla Tenenblat (Hillsborough, Calif.) ran a season-best time of 1:25.88 in the 400-meter dash.
The gold-and-black will close out the indoor season back at The Armory for the Last Chance Invite on Friday, Feb. 20.
