BRONX, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's volleyball team played its tune-up before opening conference play on Wednesday evening, falling to the University of Mount Saint Vincent in straight sets, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-19), at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
Senior Max Wang (Shenzhen, China) paced the black-and-gold with a team-high nine points, recording six kills and three service aces. Morvens Regis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was effective in the middle, putting down four kills on an efficient .333 hitting night. Matthew Zhang (Guangzhou, China) distributed 13 assists for the Cannoneers.Â
The Dolphins (4-5) used a strong offensive performance to control the match, hitting .439 as a team. The Cannoneers showed their fight in the third set, battling to an early 8-8 tie before the hosts were able to pull away and secure the match.
Mount Saint Vincent was led by a powerful performance from Jose Dominguez, who finished with a match-high 14 kills. Raeden Nieves was also highly effective, connecting for nine kills on just 12 swings for a .583 hitting clip. Setter Christian Ferrer facilitated the offense with 32 assists.
The Cannoneers (2-7) now turn their attention to conference play, opening their United East slate by hosting the University of Valley Forge this Friday, Feb. 20. First serve at the ARC is set for 7 p.m.
