STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's track and field team delivered a series of strong performances at the Big Apple Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a top-five finish from its 4x400 relay team and a top-10 individual result at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
The quartet of first-year Sarah Godlewski (Plymouth, Mass.), first-year Melis Kavlicoglu (Reno, Nev.), junior Kemi Ayeni (Stockbridge, Ga.), and sophomore Brooke Schreffler (Harrisburg, Pa.) combined for a time of 4:32.68 in the 4x400 relay, securing fifth place overall to cap the meet for the Cannoneers.
Individually, Kavlicoglu also earned a top-10 finish in the 400-meter dash, navigating the banked track in 1:00.19 to place 10th in a competitive field, fourth-best among DIII competitors.
Schreffler continued to lower her personal best in the 60-meter dash, placing 45th with a time of 8.93 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Ayeni led a trio of Pratt sprinters with a time of 30.31 for 64th place. Schreffler finished 65th (30.55) and Godlewski took 66th (31.17).
Senior Giovanna Lisa (Reading, Pa.) made her season debut in the 800-meter run, placing 29th with a time of 2:50.08. First-year Milla Tenenblat (Hillsborough, Calif.) also competed for the gold-and-black, finishing 40th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:27.50.
Pratt returns to the track on Saturday, Feb. 14, for the NYU DIII Invitational at The Armory in New York.
