JAMAICA, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's track and field team kicked off its 2026 outdoor season on Saturday, competing at The Big Hurt hosted by St. John's University.Â
The Cannoneers were led by a top-10 finish from graduate student Anthony Cowell (Boulder, Colo.) in the 1500-meter run. Cowell navigated the track to an eighth-place finish in the 1500 meters, posting a strong season-opening time of 4:44.65. Earlier in the day, he competed in the 400-meter dash for the first time in his collegiate career, finishing 11th in 59.32.
First-year Jackson Brock (Vicenza, Italy) also had a successful day, establishing a new personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:05.32. Like Cowell, he made his debut in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:02.87.
Junior Anyadire Erima (Brooklyn, N.Y.) represented the gold-and-black in the sprints. He competed in the 100-meter dash (13.28) and the 200-meter dash (27.94) to open his outdoor campaign.
The Cannoneers will travel to Galloway, N.J. on Saturday, April 4 for the Stockton Osprey Open.
