GALLOWAY, N.J. — The Pratt Institute women's track and field team showcased its strength in the field events on Saturday at the Stockton University Osprey Open, with junior Hannah Kim (Camas, Wash.) and sophomore Jordana Halpern (Oceanside, N.Y.) both securing top-five finishes in the discus.
Kim earned a runner-up finish to lead the Cannoneers in her season debut, launching a throw of 37.37 meters. Halpern also had a strong showing, placing fifth with a mark of 33.65 meters.
On the track, first-year Melis Kavlicoglu (Reno, Nev.) led the gold-and-black with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:00.77. Senior Giovanna Lisa (Reading, Pa.) also earned a sixth-place result, competing in the 5,000-meter run and finishing in 21:54.87.
Pratt excelled in the hurdles, with sophomore Brooke Schreffler (Harrisburg, Pa.) finishing eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.40. She was followed closely by first-year Lina Darcy (Newton, Mass.), who took ninth place in 19.69. First-year Sarah Godlewski (Plymouth, Mass.) added another top-10 finish for Pratt, placing ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.74.
Junior Kemi Ayeni (Stockbridge, Ga.) paced the sprinters, finishing the 100-meter dash in 13.59 and the 200-meter dash in 29.10. First-year Sonai Castrillo (Pine Hill, N.J.) competed in the 1500-meter run, finishing in 6:17.15. Senior Kathleen Chen (Livingston, N.J.) ran the 800 meters in 3:21.10. First-year Milla Tenenblat (Hillsborough, Calif.) rounded out the competitors for the gold-and-black, running the 100 (18.79), 200 (40.25), and 400-meter (1:29.14) dashes.
Pratt returns to the Garden State next Saturday, April 11 to compete in the Rutgers Relays.
