BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 non-conference decision to borough rival Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon at Floyd Bennett Sports Complex.

The Cannoneers (1-3-1) faced heavy pressure from Brooklyn (3-1-3), with the Bulldogs maintaining a large shot discrepancy. Sophomore goalkeeper Hayden Pettit (Houston, Texas) matched a season high with nine saves to keep Pratt within reach before the visitors pulled away in the second half.

Pratt nearly jumped in front in the sixth minute when Lucca Novi (The Woodlands, Texas) struck the top of the woodwork. The Bulldogs broke through in the 20th minute, however, as Alejandro Barreto converted a feed from Nathaniel Xavier Liebling for the opening goal, which stood as the game-winner.

Brooklyn carried the 1-0 advantage into the break before extending the margin midway through the second half. Hugo Sauriat tallied an unassisted goal in the 64th minute and struck again two minutes later off an assist from Daniel Sokira to push the margin to 3-0 in the 66th minute.

Bryan Lozano capped the scoring for the Bulldogs just minutes before the end of regulation off a pass from Connor Grethe to finalize the 4-0 scoreline.

Novi forced a save from Brooklyn starting goalkeeper Juan Carlos Solis Cazares in the 48th minute, generating Pratt's lone shot on goal of the contest. Griffin Benkovszky (Ashland, Va.) and Bryan Hong-Dominguez (San Diego, Calif.) each contributed a shot attempt for the Cannoneers.

Pettit stood tall against a relentless attack, turning aside eight of his nine saves in the second half as Brooklyn sent 17 shots toward target after the intermission.

Brooklyn held a 30-4 edge in total shots, a 13-1 advantage in shots on target, and an 8-2 margin in corner kicks.

After a four-game homestand, Pratt hits the road on Monday, Sept. 21, to face Sarah Lawrence College at 7 p.m. at Fleming Field in Yonkers, N.Y.
