FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's tennis team secured a 7-0 road victory over Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon.

Pratt (2-0) earned the doubles point and swept all six singles courts to record its second consecutive shutout to start the season. The Cannoneers conceded just 11 games across the five completed singles matches.

The Cannoneers captured the doubles point by winning two of the three flights. Olivia Tao (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and first-year Elva Yu (Spring, Texas) opened the afternoon with a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. After Judith Song (Sharon, Mass.) and sophomore Quinn Steinman (Greendale, Wis.) dropped a 6-4 decision at No. 2 doubles, seniors Pallavi Verghese (Fayetteville, Ark.) and Beatrice Crespo (Kearny, N.J.) clinched the opening team point with a 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot.

Pratt carried that advantage into singles play, where the Cannoneers picked up the No. 6 singles point by default. Crespo followed shortly after at No. 2, recording a 6-1, 6-1 victory and Verghese clinched the team victory on the top flight posting a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1.

The Cannoneers continued to add to the scoreline on the remaining courts. Tao notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles, and Song added a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot. Yu closed out the match on court five with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout.

Pratt returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, traveling to face York College in its City University of New York Athletic Conference opener. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Queens, N.Y.
