Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 9-0 triumph over Hunter College on Sunday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
First-years Pallavi Verghese and Beatrice Crespo continued their strong play atop the lineup with Verghese winning 6-2, 6-1 in the lead singles match and Crespo prevailing 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 position. Both teamed up for an 8-2 win in the top doubles match to post the first point for the Cannoneers.
Sophomore Ariana Castro posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and fifth-year Nastazja Cancellaro collected a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.
Julia Ognibene secured a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles with Alice Li rallying after dropping the opening set to clinch the sweep with a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) win in the No. 6 spot.
Castro and Li teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Cancellaro and Ognibene won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Pratt puts their undefeated record on the line on Saturday, October 7 in a joint dual match with the men against Bard College at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center starting at 12 p.m.
