ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's soccer team played a spirited first half to open their 2024 campaign, but surrendered three goals in the second half for a 3-0 defeat to Bard College on Friday evening.
Bard (1-0) held a 12-2 shot edge in the scoreless opening 45, but it was Dylan Costa's shot in the 14th minute that was the best scoring opportunity for either side.
Costa had another opportunity early in the second stanza nearly catching the keeper off his line from distance, but the hosts later broke through in the 64th minute with Sam Gerber netting the eventual game-winner. Gerber found the back of the net nine minutes later for a two-goal cushion and the Raptors netted put the game out of reach scoring with just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
Costa and Omri Hadad finished with two shots each with Hadad recording both of Pratt's shots on goal. Anil Pugh made two saves in the scoreless first half and Carter Tillman made six saves before taking the loss in net.
Pratt continues north to face SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday, September 1 for a noon showdown.
