FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's and men's cross country teams had a strong showing at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's University (N.Y.) on Saturday at Bethpage State Park.
Led by Giovanna Lisa, the Cannoneer women finished in fifth place overall and the second Division III team behind the United States Merchant Marine Academy, as Division II teams took the top three spots in the team competition. Lisa covered the 5-kilometer course in 22:13 to finish in 22nd overall and the sixth Division III finisher.
Reeshane Villarama clocked in at a personal-best 23:16 to cross second for Pratt in 37th overall and Sarah Cawley followed five positions behind in 23:31. Leona Bergin just missed the top 50 in 24;27 and Finn Powell rounded out the scoring five in 24:38 to take 54th. Kathleen Chen ran a personal-best 25:39 in 67th place.
Justin Cai lowered his 8-kilometer best to 29:17 to lead the Cannoneer men in 35th place. Andrew Langpap posted 34:32 to cross second in 102nd place and Andrew Weiss clocked 36:01 good for 119th overall.
Henry Domst (36:09) and Trent Bangle (36:14) completed the scoring for the black-and-gold taking 122nd and 123rd, respectively.
Pratt takes a week off before running in the Queensborough CC Invitational on Sunday, October 6th in Van Cortlandt Park.
