Men’s Volleyball Sweeps CCNY For Second-Straight Win

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's volleyball team cruised to a straight-set victory, 25-16, 25-21, 25-15, over the City College of New York on Thursday evening at the Activity Resource Center. With their second victory in three days, Pratt improves to 2-4 on the season.

Jason Raymond led the attack with eight kills and a .375 hitting effort to go along with seven aces and five digs. Brooks Reid also finished with eight kills and four aces, paired with seven digs. Wallace Hallot logged four kills and a match-high six blocks (one solo). Max Wang also chipped in four kills with nine digs and two blocks. Nathan Kim directed the offense with 22 assists.

After five early ties in the opening set, Pratt held on to a 16-15 lead before closing out the set on a 9-1 run. The Cannoneers jumped out to a 10-2 lead and never trailed, but CCNY (0-5) pulled within one at 22-21 but couldn't pull even as Pratt won the final three points for a 2-0 set lead.

CCNY jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third, before Pratt took control with an 8-0 run. The Beavers found some momentum winning five straight to claw within three, 14-11, but Pratt pulled away again closing out the match on a 11-4 spurt.

Alex Abraham led CCNY with five kills. Nana Boteng brought up 10 digs.

Pratt has a week off from competition and heads to SUNY College at Old Westbury on Thursday, February 13 starting at 7 p.m.
