BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's volleyball team fell to the University of Valley Forge in straight sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) in United East Conference play on Tuesday night at the Activity Resource Center.
Jason Raymond led the Cannoneers (6-10, 0-4) putting away nine kills on 22 attempts and adding five digs defensively and a solo block. Max Wang anchored the defense bringing up 11 digs while slamming seven kills and landing two aces. Nathan Kim dished out 16 assists and Brooks Reid handed out 11 assists with three kills.
The Cannoneers started the first set strong jumping out to an early 11-6 lead, but the Patriots drew even at 13-all and both teams kept within reach for the remainer of the frame. A Wang kill pulled Pratt withing one at 23-22, but the visitors used a pair of kills to close out the set, 25-22.
Pratt erased an early two-point deficit in the second stanza to take a 10-7 lead, but the Patriots used a 9-2 spurt to build a 16-12 lead they wouldn't relinquish..
Valley Forge (7-6, 2-2) raced out to a 5-1 lead to open the third and Raymond did all he could to keep Pratt in the set, putting away five kills on six swings in the frame, but the Patriots led by as many as seven and never trailed to close out the match in three.
Isaiah Reece led Valley Forge with 12 kills on .524 hitting with four blocks. Toby Harris contributed a 12-kill, 11-dig double-double.
Pratt heads to Wilson College on Saturday, March 22 for a United East match starting at 1 p.m.
