LANCASTER, Pa. — Recognizing his outstanding rookie campaign, Pratt Institute first-year guard Thomas Graetz took home one of the league's top honors and was named the 2024-25 Atlantic East Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year as voted upon by the league's seven head coaches.
Graetz finished third on the team in scoring accumulating 182 points (7.6 points per game) while handing out a team-leading 54 assists (2.3 assists per game) and also grabbing 77 rebounds.
The industrial design major played in all 24 games and earned his way into the starting lineup for the last 13 contests. Graetz excelled in the second half of the season and in Atlantic East play where he recorded averages of 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per outing.
The Sydney, Australia native scored in double figures in eight contests, highlighted by a season-high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting with two blocks against league runner-up Marymount University. Graetz also compiled a team-best +33 plus-minus across both of Pratt's victories over Centenary and Marywood Universities.
The rookie of the year honor is the first major award collected by a Cannoneer in any sport since joining the Atlantic East Conference this academic year.
Donte Dupriest of league champion Neumann University was named the Player of the Year and Marymount University's Reuben McEachern was picked as Defensive Player of the Year. Neumann's TJ Lewis garnered the Elite 20 Award and Centenary University took home Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
