COBLESKILL, N.Y. — Despite an equalizing goal from Dylan Costa, the Pratt Institute men's soccer team fell, 2-1, to SUNY Cobleskill in a non-conference road match on Friday afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers scored in the ninth minute from the foot of Declan McCracken to take the early lead. Despite the early concession, it was Pratt who was the aggressor for much of opening 45 as they maintained an 8-5 shot advantage and prompting five saves from Adam Champlin. Costa's goal in the 22nd minute off the feed from Morvens Regis sent both teams tied at the intermission, 1-1.
But the hosts scored seven minutes into the second stanza off an Andrew Rimes shot, which proved to be the difference. After a plethora of opportunities for both sides in the first, both squads had just three shots apiece, with Paxton Lyman and William Jung putting Champlin to the test.
Pratt finished with an 11-8 shot advantage. Dimitris Papagiannakopoulos and Anil Pugh each made one save in goal.
The Cannoneers travel to Albany, New York to face Russell Sage College in a Labor Day tilt starting at 4 p.m.
