Tao Selected as Atlantic East Women's Tennis Player of the Week

HADDONFIELD, N.J. — Sophomore Olivia Tao (Ann Arbor, Mich.) of the Pratt Institute women's tennis team has been named the Atlantic East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 5–11.

Tao helped lead Pratt to a 7-0 road shutout of Brooklyn College on Friday, going undefeated across both flights and surrendering just three total games on the afternoon.

In doubles action, Tao paired with first-year Elva Yu (Spring, Texas) at the No. 2 position to secure a 6-1 victory over Aniyah James and Amara Stewart. The victory helped Pratt claim two of the three doubles courts to secure the opening team point.

Tao carried that momentum into singles play at the No. 3 flight, defeating Stewart 6-2, 6-0 in straight sets. The win was one of six straight-set victories for the Cannoneers, who conceded only 14 games across all singles matches on the day.

Pratt (4-0, 2-0 CUNYAC) continues CUNYAC conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 13, against York College in Queens, N.Y. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
