NORTHPORT, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute equestrian team tied Long Island University for Reserve High Point Reserve Champion Team at the Adelphi and Molloy Universities' IHSA Horse Show on Sunday at Sagamore Hill Stables in their regular season finale.
Pratt delivered four section wins across the order. Co-captain Grace Plunkett (Los Angeles, Calif.) won Open Equitation over Fences and Audrey Flatt (Nashville, Tenn.) also earned a blue ribbon, taking first in Intermediate Equitation over Fences. Both Plunkett and Flatt both added a third-place finishes in Open Equitation on the Flat.
The Cannoneers stayed sharp in the top division as co-captain Alin Kutan (Istanbul, Turkey) placed fourth in both Open Equitation over Fences and Open Equitation on the Flat and qualified for regionals in both disciplines.
Pratt's depth showed in Pre-Novice, where Mads Maarbjerg (Silver Spring, Md.) earned first, Yagmur Omurluoglu (White Rock, British Columbia, Canada) followed in second and Magia Alcivar (Portoviejo, Ecuador) added a third-place finish to give the Cannoneers three placings in the section.
Vedika Chauhan (Vadodara, Gujarat, India) rounded out the wins for Pratt with a first-place ride in Introductory Equitation.
In the remaining classes, Katie McVeigh (San Diego, Calif.) placed fourth in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, Shelby Duerig (San Juan, Puerto Rico) earned fourth in both Limit Equitation over Fences and Limit Equitation on the Flat, and Aahan Pradhan (Gurgaon, India) finished fifth in Novice Equitation.
Pratt completes the regular season tied for fourth place in the region with New York University. In the regular-season ranking of the Region's riders, Plunkett finished as the third-top rider in the region, and Alin Kutan finished as the seventh-top rider.Â
Pratt sets their focus on IHSA Regionals in two weeks at returning to Sagamore Hill Stables.
