QUEENS, N.Y. — Giovanna Lisa and the women's 4x400 relay team delivered strong performances, highlighting a series of top-10 finishes for Pratt Institute at their home invitational track and field meet on Saturday at Queens College.
Lisa earned the top spot in the women's 3000 meters with a finishing time of 12:06.98. Pratt's women's 4x400 relay team, composed of Sarah Cawley, Lili Gadret, Alyssa Trujillo, and Lisa, also claimed first place, finishing in 5:04.67.
In individual events for the women's team, senior Siena Sujitno sprinted to second place in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 13.47 seconds. Junior Sarah Cawley secured second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:50.25.Â
First-year Brooke Schreffler earned third place in the 100-meter hurdles with a performance of 19.05 seconds. Senior Kayla Galvan followed with a sixth-place finish in the same event at 20.11 seconds.
First-year Kate Nolan took fourth place in the 100 meters (13.80) and eighth in the 200 meters (29.99). Senior Reeshane Villarama contributed a pair of top-5 finishes, placing fourth in the 800 meters (3:02.11) and fifth in the 1500 meters (6:05.66).Â
First-year Jordana Halpern rounded out Pratt's women's top-10 results with a sixth-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 8.88 meters.
On the men's side, the 4x100-meter relay quartet consisting of William Stewart, Soren Ekstrom, Anthony Cowell, and Chris DeGaetano, captured second place finishing in 52.91 seconds. Individually, Ekstrom collected a 10th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 6.70 meters.Â
Andrew Weiss finished just outside the top 10 in the 1500 meters (5:27.43) in 11th. Chris DeGaetano scored a pair of top 15 finishes in the 400 meter (59.53, 14th place) and 200 meter (26.65, 15th place).
The Cannoneers head to the Wilton Write Invitational, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University, on Saturday, April 12.
