Women’s Tennis Earns Seven All-Atlantic East Selections; Abraham Named Rookie of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. — The accolades rolled in for the Pratt Institute women's tennis team after their historic year as six different Cannoneers were named to the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference Team announced Tuesday, highlighted by Kayla Abraham capturing the Rookie of the Year award.

Abraham, a standout first-year player, secured Rookie of the Year in addition to the Singles First Team singles honors following an outstanding debut campaign, posting a stellar 14-1 singles record including a 3-1 mark at No. 1 singles in conference play. The Stockholm, Sweden native from also excelled in doubles action, registering a 12-3 overall record.

Sophomore Pallavi Verghese joined Abraham on the Singles First Team, assembling a 4-2 overall mark, including a strong 3-1 record in conference competition in the No. 2 position..

Three Cannoneers landed on the Singles Second Team: Beatrice Crespo, Victoria Delgado, and Alice Li. Crespo put together a solid 9-2 record (4-0 conference), primarily competing at positions two and three. Delgado posted a reliable 7-4 singles record from the No. 4 and 5 spot, including a perfect 4-0 ledger in conference matches, while Li delivered an impressive 8-2 season overall in the fifth and sixth position including a spotless 3-0 mark against conference foes.

Pratt saw two duos on the All-Conference Doubles squads, as Abraham and Verghese earned First Team honors, finishing their season with a notable 5-2 overall record at the No. 1 doubles position, 3-1 in Atlantic East competition. In addition, the doubles pairing of Delgado and Julia Ognibene received Second Team recognition, concluding their dual matches with a 6-4 season record, including 3-1 in conference play.

The Cannoneers assembled an exceptional season that culminated with their first Atlantic East title, finishing their season with a 14-2 overall record and an undefeated 4-0 mark in league matches.
