Grant, Jakelic Combine for 27 in Setback to Marymount

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's basketball team fell to Atlantic East Conference leader Marymount University, 74-33, on Saturday afternoon at the Activity Resource Center. Kylie Grant and Anabela Jakelic both finished in double figures for the Cannoneers.

Pratt (1-11, 0-4 Atlantic East) kept pace early, but Marymount (7-8, 4-0 Atlantic East) used its depth and a strong second quarter to remain unbeaten in league play.

Anabela Jakelic (Zagreb, Croatia) powered the Pratt offense in the opening period, scoring eight of the team's nine points as the Cannoneers trailed just 17-9 after the first 10 minutes. The visiting Saints found their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring the hosts 17-4 to build a 34-13 advantage by halftime.

Kylie Grant (Dallas, Texas) led the Cannoneers with 14 points and added six rebounds. Jakelic finished with 13 points on an efficient 6-for-12 shooting, grabbing seven rebounds and a team-high three steals before fouling out. Emily Carlson (Utica, N.Y.) chipped in with three points and pulled down a team-best eight rebounds, while Dahlia Dimitrov (Montreal, Canada) recorded two blocks.

Marymount was paced by a dominant effort off the bench from Chandler Eddleton, who scored a game-high 23 points and collected eight rebounds. Cara Vollmer was lethal from long range, draining six 3-pointers for 19 points, and Kaylah Barr contributed 10 points and four assists for the Saints.

The Cannoneers will look to bounce back when they travel to Morristown, N.J. to face St. Elizabeth University for an Atlantic East contest on Wednesday, January 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
