Myers Rallies in Singles to Lift Men’s Tennis Past Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's tennis team swept all three doubles flights to secure the doubles point and held on for a 4-3 road victory over Brooklyn College on Friday afternoon.

Pratt (1-2) captured the doubles point before splitting the six singles matches against Brooklyn (1-1) to pick up its first win of the 2026-27 season in their fall finale. Sophomore Wyatt Myers (San Francisco, Calif.) delivered the clinching point for the Cannoneers rallying from a set down and he and senior Calder Tillinghast (Seattle, Wash.) went undefeated on the day in singles and doubles.

The Cannoneers established the early lead with a sweep across doubles play. Noe Lopez (Plainfield, N.J.) and first-year Peter Burnham (Duxbury, Mass.) took a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Myers and graduate student Aarin Mali (Pune, India) followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles. Tillinghast and sophomore Kwan Huang (Shenzhen, China) completed the sweep at No. 2 doubles, prevailing in a 7-6 (4) in a tiebreak.

Senior Aditya Shivkumar (Bombay, India) earned Pratt's first singles point of the afternoon at No. 6 singles, winning 6-2, 6-2. Tillinghast added another straight-set point for the Cannoneers at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

The Bulldogs stayed in contention with singles victories at the top two flights before Myers clinched the team victory with his three-set triumph at No. 3 singles, coming back from a first-set defeat to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Brooklyn picked up the final point of the contest at No. 4 singles, fifth-year Aarav Shroff (Mumbai, India) pushed Christopher Vasquez to three sets before falling, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

Pratt will resume their season in 2027 with the spring portion of their schedule to be announced.
