HADDONFIELD, N.J. — Pratt Institute senior goalkeeper Savannah Depaz (Chapel Hill, N.C.) has been named the Atlantic East Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 14–20, the league office announced.
Depaz earned the defensive accolade after recording a nine-save clean sheet and stopping a second-half penalty kick to guide Pratt to a 3-0 victory over Purchase College on Thursday. The senior turned away five shots in the opening 45 minutes to help the Cannoneers carry a 3-0 lead into the intermission, then added four more stops in the second half. Her highlight came in the 63rd minute, when she turned aside a penalty-kick attempt from Saige Navara to keep the Panthers off the board.
The performance marked the second consecutive individual shutout for Depaz and anchored the third straight clean sheet for the Pratt defense.
Sophomore forward Chloe Tien (Broomfield, Colo.) was also recognized on the Atlantic East Weekly Honor Roll. Tien had a hand in two of the Cannoneers' three goals on Thursday. She opened the scoring in the 6th minute with what proved to be the game-winning goal on her lone shot of the match. In the 40th minute, Tien delivered a corner kick into the box that was headed home to push the Pratt advantage to 3-0. Tien currently leads the Atlantic East with five goals and three game-winning tallies on the season.
Currently on a three-game shutout win streak, Pratt (4-1-0) returns to action tonight, facing The City College of New York at 7 p.m. at Randall's Island - Field 10 in a road match.
