Men’s Tennis Bypasses Brooklyn College For First Win

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Nathan Park and John Cherry both secured a pair of wins to lead the Pratt Institute men's tennis team to a 4-3 triumph over Brooklyn College in non-conference play on Friday afternoon.

Cherry and Park teamed up at the No. 3 position for a 6-2 victory to take the first match of the doubles session, but Brooklyn (0-1) took the No. 1 and No. 2 matches by a 6-4 score to secure the doubles point.

Cherry earned a hard-fought win at No. 5 singles in a second set tiebreaker, 6-2, 7-6 (9). Victories from Mikah Liu at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-3) and Mason Porras at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1) gave the Cannoneers a 3-2 advantage, before the Bulldogs took the No. 4 match to pull even at 3-all.

Park delivered the deciding point at No. 3 singles in a 7-6 (3), 6-4 triumph to seal the black-and-gold's first win of the season.

Pratt (1-2) welcomes Atlantic East Conference foe Marywood University tomorrow for a non-conference match starting at noon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
