MADISON, N.J. — John Cherry went undefeated on the afternoon, but the Pratt Institute men's tennis team saw its two-match winning streak halted by a pair of losses to Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, 4-3, and to Drew University, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon.
In their opener against FDU, Mikah Liu and Cherry picked up the lone wins, both victorious in their singles matches by a matching 8-4 margin, Liu in the No. 2 spot and Cherry in the No. 5 position.
Named Atlantic East Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Cherry finished the week undefeated, posting two more wins in the nightcap with Drew. He teamed up with Nathan Park for a 6-0 triumph at No. 3 doubles and outlasted his opponent at No. 5 singles in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (5). Johnny Xie played a hard-fought match at No. 6 singles before falling in a tiebreak, 8-7 (6).
Pratt concludes their fall season with a 2-4 mark and will resume their campaign in the spring.
