NORWALK, Conn. — The Pratt Institute equestrian team placed fourth at the Sacred Heart & Fairfield Universities IHSA Horse Show on Saturday at Silvermine Farm, moving into fourth place in the region's standings among 11 programs.
Sophomore Katie McVeigh (San Diego, Calif.) punched her ticket to Regionals in both Limit equitation on the flat and Limit over fences after placing fourth and third, respectively, and will advance to Intermediate for the remainder of the regular season.
Co-captain Grace Plunkett (Los Angeles, Calif.) claimed her second first-place ribbon of the season in Open equitation on the flat and added a fourth over fences to pace the Cannoneers at the top level.
Co-captain Alin Kutan (Istanbul, Turkey) delivered a pair of fifth-place rides in Open equitation over fences and on the flat to keep Pratt's point total steady.
In Intermediate, Audrey Flatt (Nashville, Tenn.) took fourth over fences and fifth on the flat, adding depth in the middle tier for the Cannoneers.
First-year Addie Hollon (Santa Ynez, Calif.) earned sixth in Limit equitation on the flat, continuing a solid start to her debut season.
Pratt continued to stack ribbons in the lower divisions. Magia Alcivar (Portoviejo, Ecuador) was third in Pre-Novice, and Aahan Pradhan (Gurgaon, India) finished fourth. In Introductory, Vedika Chauhan (Vadodara, Gujarat) placed third and Sophia Potorti (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took fourth.
The Cannoneers return to riding on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the NYU/Hofstra show at Sagamore Hill Stable in Northport, N.Y.
