NORTHPORT, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute equestrian team placed fifth at the Hofstra and New York Universities' IHSA Horse Show on Sunday at Sagamore Hill Stable and moved to fifth in the regional standings
Pratt's Introductory group set the tone. Sophia Potorti (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Vedika Chauhan (Vadodara, Gujarat) each won their classes to secure blue ribbons and key points.
At the Open level, co-captains Alin Kutan (Istanbul, Turkey) and Grace Plunkett (Los Angeles, Calif.) both finished second on the flat and added fourth-place rides over fences to anchor the Cannoneers' upper-division scoring.
In Intermediate, Audrey Flatt (Nashville, Tenn.) took fourth over fences and sixth on the flat, while Katie McVeigh (San Diego, Calif.) was third on the flat and sixth over fences to keep Pratt's momentum rolling.
The Cannoneers added depth throughout. Addie Hollon (Santa Ynez, Calif.) placed fifth on the flat, and Leilani Hamilton (Queens Village, N.Y.) claimed fifth in Novice. In Pre-Novice, Paty Garcia (El Paso, Texas) finished fourth and Aahan Pradhan (Gurgaon, India) earned fifth to close out the scoring slate.
Pratt returns to the riding Saturday, Nov. 1, at Stony Brook's show at Good Shepherd Farm in Yaphank, N.Y.
