Track & Field Sets Numerous Season Bests at Big Apple Invite

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute track and field teams reached the halfway point of their indoor season with a strong showing at the 2025 Big Apple Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Kate Nolan took 16th in the long jump with a season-best leap of 4.81 meters and also posted the top time for the Cannoneers in the 60-meter dash, matching her personal-best of 8.41, good for 35th place. Sophie Salvucci lowered her personal best in the 60-meter to 8.80, taking 48th place. Allyson Ing also set a personal best in the 60-meter to 9.51, good for 52nd place.

Sarah Cawley clocked in a pair of career bests in the 200-meter (30.60, 54th place) and 800-meter (2:41.16, 30th place). Reeshane Villarama (2:54.24, 33rd place) and Kathleen Chen (3:06.45, 35th) both followed closely behind Cawley in the 200 meter in their first time running the event. 

Brooke Schreffler ran a personal-best 11.15 in the 60-meter hurdle and leapt a personal-best 4.13m in the long jump. Giovanna Lisa clocked in at 6:05.58 in the mile to take 40th.

Jordana Halpern tossed 9.59m in the weight throw and 8.22m in the shot put to take 20th and 22nd, respectively.

Justin Cai had the highest finish for the men in 33rd in the mile, running 5:15.27. Dylan Costa lowered his personal best in the 60-meter to 7:83 and took 48th in the 200-meter with a time of 25.52 in his first effort in the event.

Griffin Benkovszky and Soren Ekstrom ran personal bests in the 200-meter -- Benkovsky in 25.12  and Ekstrom in 28.13.

Chris DeGaetano posted a personal-best 57.73 in the 400-meter to take 43rd place. Anyadire Erima lowered his personal best in the 400-meter to 58.84, two spots behind DeGaetano in 45th. 

Pratt returns to the Amory this Saturday, February 15 for the NYU DIII Invitational.
