BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Grace Plunkett secured a pair of firsts in Open Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences and on the Flat as the Pratt Institute equestrian team rode in the Long Island University Horse Show on Sunday afternoon at the North Shore Equestrian Center.
Plunkett tied for High Point Rider and was the show's Reserve High Point Rider after the tie-breaking session. With her effort in the Open Flat, she also qualified for Regionals, becoming the fourth Cannoneer to earn a post-season spot with one regular season show remaining.
Aahan Pradhan placed second in Pre-Novice Hunter Seat Equitation.
Katie McVeigh collected third in Limit Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat while Leilani Hamilton finished in the same position in Pre-Novice Hunter Seat Equitation.
Audrey Flatt finished fourth in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences and fifth in Intermediate Hunter Seat on the Flat
Paty Garcia placed fourth in Introductory Hunter Seat Equitation
Chloe Joyce nabbed fifth in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat
Magia Alcivar took sixth in Pre-Novice Hunter Seat Equitation
Lauren Morgan suffered a fall and injuries that will keep her from the rest of the competition season. She was within possibility of qualifying for Regionals in Limit Fences and Limit Flat, after previously qualifying for Regionals in Novice Hunter Seat Equitation. Coach is happy to report that she'll have a full recovery – and, in true Lauren style and team commitment, that she's already resumed her responsibilities as Co-Captain.
Pratt finished tied for fifth among 11 teams competing.
The Cannoneers wrap up the regular season at the Hofstra, Molloy and Adelphi Universities show on Sunday, March 16 at Sagamore Hill Stable.
