JAMAICA, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's tennis team took a brief break from conference play and defeated York College with a decisive 7-0 road victory on Tuesday afternoon at York College Courts.
The Cannoneers (6-5) won the top two matches at love to clinch the doubles point. The top pairing of Mikah Liu and Nathan Park defeated York's Sangay Yoezer and Altenor Molien 6-0, while Johnny Xie and Davyen Garrett matched that result over Firdaus Abdulai and Abubakar Khamis in the No. 2 spot.
In singles play, Pratt continued its strong play. Liu and Bahidrah won at love at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, while Park and Xie followed with 8-1 triumphs in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Davyen Garrett won a tightly contested match at No. 4 in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (2).
Pratt returns to the courts on Saturday, April 5 to host Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center starting at noon.
