FLUSHING, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's tennis team dominated in Atlantic East Conference play Sunday, sweeping Immaculata University 7-0 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The Cannoneers set the tone early, clinching the doubles point with commanding victories. Justin Urbi and Mikah Liu secured a decisive 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, with John Cherry and Caleb Callahan following with a 6-0 victory in the No. 2 spot.
In singles action, Pratt continued to demonstrate strength, winning all matches in straight sets. Urbi earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, and Liu added a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at the No. 2 position. Nathan Park contributed a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles, while Cherry posted a consistent 6-3, 6-3 victory in the fourth slot. At No. 5 singles, Callahan cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win.
With Sunday's shutout, Pratt improves to 7-5 overall on the season and 2-1 in conference competition. Immaculata falls to 1-8 overall and remains winless in Atlantic East play at 0-3.
Pratt tries to lock up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Atlantic East Championship traveling to Marywood University on Thursday, April 17th for a 3:30 p.m. match.
