HADDONFIELD, N.J. — Junior defender Alex Abbruzzese (Staten Island, N.Y.) was selected as the Atlantic East Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played September 28-October 4, the league office announced today.
Abbruzzese delivered the game-winning goal in the 65th minute of Pratt's 1-0 road victory over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday. Coming off the bench, he broke a scoreless deadlock in the second half, heading in a feed from Lawton Tucker-Ortega, off a free kick, for the first goal of his collegiate career. Â
It is the second weekly award collected by the Cannoneers following Hayden Pettit being picked for the same honor three weeks ago in week two of the regular season.
Pratt (2-5-1, 1-0) returns to the pitch at Randall's Island Field 10 on Wednesday, October 7, hosting Saint Elizabeth University in an Atlantic East match kicking off at 7 p.m.
