HADDONFIELD, N.J. — The Atlantic East Conference announced its weekly volleyball awards Monday, selecting Pratt Institute senior Colleen Russell as the league's Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 21-27. It marks the third consecutive week Russell has earned the conference's top weekly honor.
Russell (Asbury, N.J.) led the Pratt attack during a 1-1 week, averaging 3.50 kills per set on a .184 hitting percentage. Across six sets, the senior middle hitter totaled 21 kills, 10 digs, one service ace, and one block assist, leading the Cannoneers in kills in both contests.
She opened the week on Tuesday by recording a team-high 11 kills, eight digs, and a block assist on the road against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. In Thursday's home match, Russell paced a straight-set sweep of York College, hitting .368 with a match-high 10 kills on 19 attempts against just three errors, while adding two digs and an ace.
On the season, Russell has helped guide Pratt to a 5-4 overall record.
Pratt returns to action Saturday, Oct. 3, for a tri-match at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. The Cannoneers face The City College of New York at 2 p.m. before taking on host Bard at 4 p.m.
